Supabase development company: production apps on Postgres, Auth and Storage
We build and harden Supabase products: the PostgreSQL schema and migrations, row level security that actually isolates users, Auth flows, Storage, database functions and the Next.js or React Native apps on top. Fast to start like a backend-as-a-service, still plain PostgreSQL underneath.

Short answer
Supabase is an open-source backend platform built on PostgreSQL that adds authentication, file storage, realtime and edge functions. Innovation Insight is a Supabase development company: we design the schema and row level security, build the app on Next.js or React Native, and set up migrations, environments and monitoring. A Supabase web MVP costs $15k to $40k; Supabase's own Pro plan starts at $25 a month (checked October 2026).

When Supabase is the right backend
- You want a relational database from day one, with SQL, joins and constraints, not documents you will have to reshape later.
- You need auth, file storage and realtime without building them, but want to keep the option of moving to self-hosted or plain managed PostgreSQL.
- The product is a web or mobile app with a clear data model: SaaS dashboards, marketplaces, booking, internal tools, community and event apps.
- Your team, or the app builder you started with (Lovable, Bolt, v0), already uses it.
It is a weaker fit for heavy background processing, complex multi-step workflows or very high write volumes, where a dedicated service beside the database is cleaner. We often pair Supabase with a small Node.js or Python service for that work. The trade-offs against Firebase are in our Supabase vs Firebase guide.
Recent Supabase work: FlowerPV City
FlowerPV City is a city-quiz web app we built for FlowerPV in Germany. Visitors scan a QR code at a physical station, the server checks they are really at that location, they answer questions, collect points, appear on a public ranking and redeem rewards at partner venues. Administrators and partner logins manage stations, questions, challenges and rewards. We delivered the proof of concept between late August and September 2026, handed it over with full technical documentation, and the client has since ordered a second round of features. It is our most recent Supabase build; the case studies further down show the PostgreSQL and full-stack work behind it.
| Layer | How it is built |
|---|---|
| Database | Supabase PostgreSQL 17 in the EU (eu-west-1), 11 versioned SQL migrations |
| Access control | 27 row level security policies; no policies for the anonymous role, so visitors never reach the database directly; admin and partner sessions use @supabase/ssr and authenticated policies; every server action checks the admin role |
| Business logic in the database | A submit_answer Postgres function locks the visitor row, enforces the cooldown and records the answer atomically, so double taps and races cannot award points twice |
| Auth | Supabase Auth for admins, partner logins scoped by a group ID in app metadata, sign-up disabled; anonymous visitors identified by a signed cookie |
| Storage | Supabase Storage bucket for question images |
| App | Next.js 16 App Router, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind v4, bilingual German and English, installable PWA, hosted on Vercel in Frankfurt |
| Privacy | Location is checked on the server and coordinates are never stored or logged |
What we build on Supabase
| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| Schema and migrations | Normalised PostgreSQL schema, constraints, indexes and versioned SQL migrations in Git, applied by CI, never by clicking in the dashboard |
| Row level security | Policies per table and role, tested with real accounts; privileged operations in server code with the secret key kept server-side |
| Auth | Email, magic link, OAuth and SSO; organisations, roles and invitations; server-side sessions for Next.js |
| Database functions and triggers | Atomic business rules (balances, bookings, scoring) in Postgres functions so the app cannot bypass them |
| Storage | Buckets with access policies, signed URLs and image transforms |
| Realtime and edge functions | Live updates where they help, webhooks and third-party calls in edge functions or a small service |
| Search and AI | Full-text search and pgvector for semantic search or RAG inside the same database |
| Operations | Separate development, staging and production projects, backups and point-in-time recovery, monitoring and a runbook |
Supabase costs and what we charge

| Supabase Pro | From $25 a month, includes $10 of compute credit; 8 GB disk per project and 100,000 monthly active users before usage charges |
| Supabase Team | From $599 a month; SOC 2 report included, HIPAA available as a paid add-on |
| Supabase web MVP with us | $15k to $40k |
| Mobile app on Supabase (React Native or Flutter) | $20k to $45k |
| Audit and fix of an existing Supabase app | $3k to $8k audit, then $6k to $18k for a stabilisation sprint |
| Supabase developer, full time | From $4,000 a month for a senior engineer |
Run a production app on Pro, not Free: Free projects pause after a week without activity. For health data, the BAA and HIPAA add-on sit on the Team plan and above; see our HIPAA compliant software page.
Already built on Supabase with an AI tool?
Apps generated with Lovable, Bolt or v0 often run on Supabase with row level security that is missing or too open, and service keys in the browser. A disputed 2025 CVE (CVE-2025-48757) described exactly this pattern in Lovable-generated sites. Our vibe code cleanup service audits the policies with real accounts and fixes them without throwing the app away.

Questions we get asked a lot.
Is Supabase good for production apps?
Yes, on a paid plan with migrations in Git, tested row level security and backups. It is PostgreSQL underneath, so the data model, indexes and policies decide how well it scales.
How much does it cost to build an app on Supabase?
A web MVP costs $15k to $40k and a mobile MVP $20k to $45k with us. Supabase itself is free to start and from $25 a month on the Pro plan (checked October 2026).
Can you fix row level security on our Supabase project?
Yes. We audit every table's policies with real accounts for each role, rewrite the ones that leak, and move privileged operations to server code. An audit costs $3k to $8k.
Can we move off Supabase later?
Yes. Your data is in PostgreSQL, so it can move to Amazon RDS, Neon or your own servers. Auth and Storage need a migration plan, which we can scope in advance.
Supabase or Firebase?
Supabase when your data is relational and you want SQL and portability; Firebase when you are deep in Google Cloud or need its offline mobile sync. Our Supabase vs Firebase guide compares them in detail.
