What a Nuxt developer does on our teams
Nuxt is the Vue framework for applications that need server rendering, static generation or a mix of both per route. We use it for marketing sites that depend on search traffic, for dashboards and portals behind a login, and for SaaS front ends that talk to a Laravel, Node.js or Supabase back end. A Nuxt developer from us owns the whole front end: routing and layouts, data fetching with useFetch and useAsyncData, state in Pinia, server routes in Nitro, and the tests that keep releases safe.
Nuxt 4, Nuxt 3 and the upgrade path
Nuxt 4 is the current major line (4.6 at the time of writing) and the Nuxt team still ships fixes for Nuxt 3 alongside it, so most teams can choose when to move. The upgrade changes the directory layout (the new app folder), the defaults for data fetching and some TypeScript behaviour. We do it behind Nuxt's compatibility flags, one change at a time, so the product keeps shipping while the upgrade lands. Teams still on Nuxt 2, which reached end of life in June 2024, get a migration plan to Vue 3 first. Version details are in the Nuxt release notes.
How we assess Nuxt developers
- Rendering: when to use SSR, static generation or hybrid route rules, and what each does to caching and hosting cost
- Data: useFetch, useAsyncData, payload hydration and the mistakes that double-fetch on the client
- Server: Nitro routes, middleware, sessions and the newer nuxt/server layer introduced in Nuxt 4.6
- Upgrades: planning a Nuxt 3 to Nuxt 4 move with compatibility flags, or a Nuxt 2 migration via Vue 3
- Sample task: build a server-rendered listing page with a Nitro API route, a filter in Pinia and Playwright tests in four hours
Nuxt and Next.js in the same team
We run both frameworks. If your product is Vue, hire our Nuxt or Vue.js developers. If it is React, see our Next.js developers and the Next.js development service. The engineering standards are the same either way: server-rendered HTML, measured Core Web Vitals, typed APIs and end-to-end tests on the critical paths.
Working with your back end
Nuxt's server layer handles auth, sessions, payment webhooks and small APIs without a separate service. When the back end is its own system, our Nuxt developers work against it through a typed client, and we add an API development and integration engineer when the API itself needs work.

Hiring Nuxt developers, answered.
Nuxt or Next.js?
Choose Nuxt if your product is built with Vue, and Next.js if it is built with React. Both give you server rendering, file-based routing and a server layer. We staff both, so the choice follows your codebase, not our preference.
Can you upgrade us from Nuxt 2 or Nuxt 3?
Yes. Nuxt 2 reached end of life in June 2024, so that move is a migration to Vue 3 and Nuxt 4 planned page by page. Nuxt 3 to 4 is smaller: the new directory layout, data-fetching defaults and TypeScript changes, done behind compatibility flags, so your release calendar does not change.
Do your Nuxt developers also build the back end?
Inside Nuxt, yes: Nitro server routes, auth, sessions and payment webhooks. For a separate Laravel, Node.js or Python API we pair them with a back-end engineer from the same team.
Where do you host Nuxt applications?
Vercel, Cloudflare, Netlify or a Node container. Nitro builds for each of them with a preset, and we choose by your traffic, compliance needs and budget.
