Events and Ticketing · Software development

Events and Ticketing software, built by people who've done it before.

Ticketing, booking and event operations platforms for organisers, venues and experience brands. We rebuilt Paint Nite's booking, checkout and operations platform for the US and Canada, so we design for on-sale spikes, inventory that must never oversell, refunds and tax rules that differ by state and province.

What makes it hard

The realities of events and ticketing software.

  • Ticket inventory has to hold during checkout and never oversell, even when an on-sale brings a traffic spike
  • Payments, refunds, transfers and organiser payouts need idempotent processing and a full audit trail
  • Sales tax and fee display rules differ by state, province and country
  • Replacing an old booking system cannot stop the events already on sale
What we build

Solutions we've delivered in this sector.

  • Ticketing and booking platforms
  • Checkout, refunds and organiser payouts
  • Event discovery and search
  • Check-in apps with QR scanning
  • Operations dashboards and reporting

Compliance we design for: PCI DSS scope reduction, sales tax by jurisdiction, fee transparency rules

What we have built for live events

Our main events project is the Paint Nite platform rebuild: eight NestJS services behind a GraphQL gateway, a checkout rebuilt as a six-stage pipeline with idempotent payments, separate Stripe accounts for the US and Canada, and sync services that kept the legacy platform running while features moved across in slices.

Checklist for a ticketing or booking platform

  • Inventory holds with expiry so two buyers can never take the last ticket
  • Idempotent checkout and webhooks, so a retried payment never creates a second order
  • Tax by jurisdiction and fee display that shows the total price up front
  • Refunds, transfers and organiser payouts with an audit trail
  • Search and listings that can be reindexed without downtime
  • Load testing against the biggest on-sale you expect
A booking or ticketing MVP typically costs $15k to $40k for web only and $50k to $150k+ for a multi-app platform with payouts and check-in. See event ticketing platform development for the detail.
FAQ

Events and Ticketing questions, answered.

Have you built an event platform before?

Yes. We rebuilt the booking, checkout and operations platform for Paint Nite, which runs ticketed events across the US and Canada. The case study covers the architecture.

Can you migrate us off our current ticketing system without downtime?

Yes. We move features in slices with sync services keeping the old and new platforms aligned, so events on sale keep selling during the migration.

Do you handle sales tax for events in several states or countries?

Yes. Paint Nite runs separate Stripe accounts for the US and Canada, a Canadian tax path and per-state nexus rules, and we design new platforms the same way.
